This program provides essential knowledge and skills for individuals looking to begin or transition into a healthcare career.
This program consists of three sections: The first section, Foundations of Healthcare (FoH), will be online; the second section, Home Care Aid (HCA), will be completed with an employer; and the third section will be the three-day Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC) Bridge course.
Students that already have an active Washington State HCA certification may complete the online portion and the three-day NAC Bridge course.
The introductory Foundations of Healthcare (FoH) course covers key topics, including:
- Human systems and functions
- Medical terminology
- Healthcare technology
- Professional standards for healthcare careers
- Introductory concepts for technology used in healthcare
- CPR, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens
This course provides a solid foundation for students to continue through Home Care Aide (HCA) training, often with their employer.
Individuals who obtain their Washington State HCA are then bridged through to Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC). This bridged NAC course expands upon the skills and knowledge of the HCA to offer 24 hours of advanced theory and skills training.
The bridged NAC course consists of:
- 8 hours of lecture covering theory and advanced concepts
- 8 hours of firsthand lab practice
- 8 hours of supervised clinical rotation
Upon completion, students are eligible to sit for the NACES exam, allowing them to take the next step in their healthcare careers!
