Course Description: Mental Health First Aid is training that teaches skills to help someone who is working with a person who may be experiencing a mental health crisis. Information provided will discuss symptoms, crisis response, and active listening skills to support many mental health disorders, including: Depression; Anxiety, Trauma; Psychosis; and Substance Abuse. In-person class located on SFCC Campus.

Substance Use Disorder Professional Alternative Training Program

Course Description: This is an Alternative Training opportunity for licensed providers (such as licensed mental health counselors and other health care providers). The 15-credit online program meets the educational requirements for Alternative Training (WAC 246-811) for Substance Use Disorder Professional. The following fully licensed professionals are eligible for Alternative Training (WAC 246-811): Advanced registered nurse practitioner under chapter 18.79 RCW Licensed marriage and family therapist, mental health counselor, advanced social worker, or independent clinical social worker under chapter 18.225 RCW Psychologist under chapter 18.83 RCW Osteopath physician under chapter 18.57 RCW Osteopathic physician assistant under chapter 18.57A RCW Physician under chapter 18.71 RCW; or Physician assistant under chapter 18.71A RCW.

Course Outline: This program is made up of 6 separate online courses, taken over 3 quarters, for a total of 15 credits, all of which is included in the $5,499.00 course fee.

Course Sequence:

Course 1 & 2 taken in first quarter:
Survey of Addiction Alternative Training - 3 Credits
Law and Ethics of Addiction Alternative Training - 2 Credits

Course 3 & 4 taken in second quarter:
Pharmacological and Physiological Actions of Alcohol and Other Drugs Alternative Training - 3 Credits
Family and Adolescent Treatment of Addictions Alternative Training - 2 Credits

Course 5 & 6 taken in third quarter:
American Society of Addiction Medicine Alternative Training - 3 Credits
Treatment of Addictions Individual and Group Alt Training - 2 Credits


NOTICE: Students who choose to start the sequence of courses in any other quarter than fall will have 3 weeks less time to complete course work. Please review the four potential schedules listed below
