Acrylic Pouring

This class teaches the fundamentals of the acrylic pouring art form. Students will learn about basic color theory, hues, saturation, value, and paint movement, as well as the basic tools used for acrylic pouring and will use silicon as a medium to generate "cells" in their art. Students will get to take home their creations at the end of the class!

Dementia, Level 1: Capable Caregiving

Course Description: This 1-day course will help the caregiver discover how different types of dementia affect the elderly within the long-term care population. Students learn how to communicate effectively with dementia clients and their families, gain tools to recognize the signs/symptoms of dementia and delirium, how to respond effectively to challenging behaviors, and issues surrounding activities of daily living. CPR for the Health Care Community

Course Description: This 4-hour class will teach participants the skills necessary to perform American Heart Association BLS Provider level CPR. Upon successful completion of the entire course, including the written and skills tests, the students will receive an American Heart Association BLS Provider CPR card that will be valid for a two year time period. This card level is acceptable as the CPR requirement for Nursing and Allied Health programs as well as for most educational and workplace needs.

EKG Technician Program

Course Description: This in-depth course will train you to apply, monitor, and measure electrocardiography tests in a flexible, online learning environment. By course completion, you will be prepared to take and pass the Certified EKG Technician Specialist (CETS) certification exam, offered by American Education Certification Association and the Certified EKG Technician (CET), provided by the National Healthcareer Association.

This course offers enrollment with a voucher for either the CETS certification exam or the CET certification exam. The voucher is prepaid access to sit for the certifying exam upon eligibility.

Introduction To Homeschooling

CCS supports parents who may choose home-based instruction for their children by offering a homeschool introductory course that fulfills one of the four ways to qualify in Washington: completing a qualifying course in home-based education at a postsecondary institution or a vocational-technical institute (RCW 28A.225.010 (4)(a-c). Our parent-qualifying course is designed to be an affordable, convenient, online, self-paced course taught by a homeschool parent who encourages parents just starting their journey. It will build your confidence and arm you with strategies to acquire resources for community connection, learning, assessment, and record-keeping. The course typically takes 5 to 9 hours to complete. A certificate is awarded upon completion.

Cosmetology Instructor Trainee Program

This program provides licensed cosmetologists, manicurists, estheticians, or barbers the 500 hours needed for the cosmetology instructor's examination issued by the Washington State Board of Cosmetology. Under the supervision of a licensed cosmetology instructor, trainee students receive training in instructional methods and clinical practice in assisting students in all phases of cosmetology. Program fee inlcludes textbook, required kit, CIMA access, and testing and licensing fees. This class is 50% online, self-paced and 50% in-person with supervised teaching. A 20 hour class to shape new, used, or recycled metal into hobby projects/yard art by using basic welding techniques. This class is for beginners/crafters, farmers, “retired and starting-a-part-time-out-of-the-garage” or even a “brush up class” opportunity for the established welders. Providing you some time and ability to have fun and make something cool using basic techniques! Students will design and provide materials for these projects. Students must furnish some supplies, clothing and safety equipment.

NOTE: The first night of class the instructor will give a safety orientation, along with a list of supplies the students will need. Students that miss the safety orientation cannot be admitted into the welding shop.

Commercial Truck Driver Training - CDL Class A

We will explore, through a feminist lens, whether it’s in the form of journaling, memoir, morning pages, or other forms, our trauma and emotional baggage, make connections, see patterns and through positive feedback, reveal the secrets we keep even from ourselves through other women’s stories.  We will give ourselves permission to put our feelings on the page, explore what they mean with positive self regard and a supportive atmosphere. We will write with self-compassion and clarity about who we are, what our memories mean to us and our lives.

Introduction to Biomanufacturing Interest List

Russia, Ukraine and NATO Politics

This class will examine the role NATO has played in the ongoing war since Russian invaded Ukraine on January 24, 2022. The perspectives of both the U.S. and Russia will be explored along with considerations of NATO’s standing under the Trump administration. Threatened by the possibility of another NATO member on its borders, Putin believed Russia’s aggression was justified.  The U.S., however, and Western Europe disagree and view the Russian action as the beginning of Russian expansion.

Grand Coulee Dam - Competing Narratives

This course unpacks the history of Grand Coulee Dam as a landmark of contested narratives. One narrative celebrated the social, economic, and cultural power of modernity. The other focused on the loss of indigenous cultural identities and practices. In addition to exploring both narratives, the construction of Grand Coulee and its effect upon Canada and the upper Columbia will be discussed. The course will conclude with a review of the Columbia River Treaty and its proposed renewal.
