Course Description: This 1-day course will help the caregiver discover how different types of dementia affect the elderly within the long-term care population. Students learn how to communicate effectively with dementia clients and their families, gain tools to recognize the signs/symptoms of dementia and delirium, how to respond effectively to challenging behaviors, and issues surrounding activities of daily living. QiGong is a series of gentle slow movements and controlled deep breathing like those of tai chi designed to counter the extreme effects of stress on your body.  In addition, research shows that QiGong can also improve strength, flexibility, and endurance. This course is designed for all ages and can be done either sitting or standing, and all you need are comfortable, loose-fitting clothes and shoes. This class is taught by a Doctor of Chiropractic who believes in the positive health benefits of QiGong and invites you to come give it a try!

The 15 movement Beginning Yang Tai Chi form will be taught by Master Jim in nine one-hour Zoom classes.  Each class begins with a short (3-5 minute) prerecorded video of the lesson, followed by in-person practice, demonstrations, questions, and discussion.  You need not attend the live in-person class; each class will be recorded, and video links will be sent to all people who are registered.

This course is an introduction to the general principles of dog psychology with specific emphasis on training of dogs for personal companion as well as public service use. This course will focus primarily on the skills needed for a dog and handler to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen test and function effectively in public spaces. This course is recommended for individuals interested in veterinary assisting, humane society careers, commercial/personal dog training, or working with therapy or service dogs. This is also an excellent starter course for dog lovers and owners who simply want to enrich their knowledge. Dog ownership or in-person dog handling is not required to participate in this course.

What to Expect: In-person class meetings with a guest speaker once per week for an hour - online option available for those out of town or not able to make it in-person. All other course work is online. Please do not bring dogs with you to class. This course goes over the basics to understand techniques that you can use to train and better understand your dog. This is not an in-person dog training course. 

This program provides licensed cosmetologists, manicurists, estheticians, or barbers the 500 hours needed for the cosmetology instructor's examination issued by the Washington State Board of Cosmetology. Under the supervision of a licensed cosmetology instructor, trainee students receive training in instructional methods and clinical practice assisting students in all phases of cosmetology. Program fee inlcludes textbook, required kit, CIMA access, and testing and licensing fees. This class is 50% online self-paced and 50% in-person with supervised teaching. Students may submit documented experience in lieu of some of the required 500 hours, for Prior Learning Assessment (PLA).

A 20 hour class to shape new, used, or recycled metal into hobby projects/yard art by using basic welding techniques. This class is for beginners/crafters, farmers, “retired and starting-a-part-time-out-of-the-garage” or even a “brush up class” opportunity for the established welders. Providing you some time and ability to have fun and make something cool using basic techniques! Students will design and provide materials for these projects. Students must furnish some supplies, clothing and safety equipment.

NOTE: The first night of class the instructor will give a safety orientation, along with a list of supplies the students will need. Students that miss the safety orientation cannot be admitted into the welding shop.

Step and Sculpt combines aerobic fitness and body conditioning in the same class session. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun! Participants will engage in aerobic routines set to music using a step platform. Cardio movements may also be performed as a low-impact floor routine without the step. Students will use handheld weights, exertubes, fit-balls, weighted bars, and mats to participate in resistance training exercise activities. Equipment used in class will be provided, however, students may bring their own mat/yoga mat if they wish. Warm-up, cool down, and stretching will also be included during class time.

Shape new, used, or recycled metal into yard art by using basic welding techniques, brazing and cutting material to a shape you desire in this 20-hour class. Students will design and provide materials for additional projects. Students must furnish some supplies, clothing and safety equipment. NOTE: The first night of class the instructor will give a safety orientation along with a list of supplies the students will need. Students that miss the safety orientation cannot be admitted into the welding shop.

The class is designed to provide strength training programs to help participants burn fat and boost their metabolism. Various body conditioning exercises will be used to increase muscle strength and bone mineral density, help prevent injury, and enhance physical function in daily living activities.

The Management Training Program is an 11-week, custom-built course with curriculum that fosters professional development for employees to grow into a management or leadership role within a company. This program includes micro-credentials that will be awarded upon completion of each section. Course Description: This in-depth course will train you to apply, monitor, and measure electrocardiography tests in a flexible, online learning environment. By course completion, you will be prepared to take and pass the Certified EKG Technician Specialist (CETS) certification exam, offered by American Education Certification Association and the Certified EKG Technician (CET), provided by the National Healthcareer Association.

This course offers enrollment with a voucher for either the CETS certification exam or the CET certification exam. The voucher is prepaid access to sit for the certifying exam upon eligibility.

Level 2 Qigong (chi-gong) is the art, science, and philosophy of using slow movements to either keep you well or to foster wellness. These exercises can be done either standing or sitting; there is no skipping, hopping or jumping or floor exercises in this class. The movements of Level 2 are slow like those of Level 1 Qigong but are new, exciting, and more precise. Learn to operate a tractor-trailer during classroom instruction and on-the-road training prepare students for the CDL Class A written and driving tests, and meet all State of Washington entry-level requirements for the trucking industry. This program meets the 160-hour Washington State requirement. Through classes and on-the-road practice, you’ll learn to safely drive Class A combination vehicles, with additional study in airbrakes. We will explore, through a feminist lens, whether it’s in the form of journaling, memoir, morning pages, or other forms, our trauma and emotional baggage, make connections, see patterns and through positive feedback, reveal the secrets we keep even from ourselves through other women’s stories.  We will give ourselves permission to put our feelings on the page, explore what they mean with positive self regard and a supportive atmosphere. We will write with self-compassion and clarity about who we are, what our memories mean to us and our lives.
