Spokane Volleyball capped off another unbelievable year with a three-set victory over Pierce College in the 2019 NWAC Championship match. Spokane was led in the championship by McKenna Russell with 15 kills and a .419 kill percentage and Lindsey Russell with 41 assists.

Cybersecurity program at SFCC designated National Center of Excellence

The National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently designated the Spokane Falls Community College’s (SFCC) cybersecurity program a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education.

Trustee Mike Wilson reappointed to another five-year term on Community Colleges of Spokane Board of Trustees

Gov. Jay Inslee recently reappointed Trustee Mile Wilson, who first began his tenure on the Community Colleges of Spokane Board of Trustees in 2013, to another five-year term. Wilson has worked for several decades in the healthcare industry, including Providence Health Care, where he was the chief executive officer for two years.

Community Colleges of Spokane Foundation helps Fairchild families with new program

A $25,000 donation from the Our Town Gala, hosted by Mayor David Condon and his wife, Kristin Condon, is helping launch a program to assist with community college education costs for Fairchild families.

Boeing donates 787 jet engine to Spokane Community College aviation program

The Boeing Company donated a 787 Dreamliner jet engine to the Spokane Community College Aviation Program on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019. The massive, 14-foot-tall, 17,000-pound gift is the first ever to SCC from Boeing, and the first of its kind in Boeing's history.

Sasquatch Sweep XC Athletes of the Week

Spokane Sasquatch Cross Country Runners Giovannl Raskell and Jolene Whiteley received XC athlete of the week honors after their performances at the Puget Sound Invitational. Giovanni ran a 25:37.81 at the 8K and Jolene ran a 23:02.79 at the 6K.

New Head Start Center full on opening day

The new Head Start preschool and Early Head Start toddler and infant care center opened on north Nevada Street on Sept. 3, 2019, with all 112 slots filled.
