CCS Track and Field compete out of state for the first time this year

Competing out of state for the first time in 2021 the Sasquatch track and field squad faced challenges both from mother nature and some of the best teams in the Pacific Northwest at the University of Idaho Invitational at the Dan O’ Brien track complex on Saturday April 24 in Moscow, Idaho.

Chloe O’Neill remembers the long nights. The hours huddled in the corner of a homeless shelter. The sole lightbulb overhead, illuminating textbooks and notepads, as dozens of women sleep nearby.

Some scream in the middle of the night. Others have meltdowns. O’Neill keeps studying -- because no matter what, the homework has to get done. She’s graduating on time.

Hagan Center Diversity Dialogues for Spring Quarter

The SCC Hagan Center for the Humanities kicked off its spring quarter Diversity Dialogue series April 14 with a presentation by Carlos Gil, a retired University of Washington professor who taught the history of Latin America there for over 30 years. His talk explored Mexican immigration by spotlighting his own family’s history. Gil is author of a book “We Became Mexican-American: How Our Immigrant Family Survived to Pursue the American Dream” that traces his family’s history from the 1920s to the 1970s.
