Basic Fitness

Course Description:  This two-hour training provides essential knowledge and practical guidance for individuals who may be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM) in the workplace. Personal Safety

Home Care Aide Certification

Phlebotomy Program

Course Description: The phlebotomy program prepares individuals to draw blood specimens for testing purposes. The program integrates our ‘foundations of healthcare’ content in safety, A&P, communications, etc; followed by practical training to use a variety of blood drawing techniques, prepare and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment and appropriately set-up for laboratory testing. The professional opportunities to care for the growing number of people who will use the supportive assistance offered in day treatment, assisted living, and long-term care settings are expanding faster than professionals can be trained. These positions can be rewarding, challenging, and fulfilling. Activity directors are responsible for directing, implementing and evaluating all resident activities as well as completing comprehensive assessments and care plan goals. Directing the activity course includes planning of activities for both individuals and groups, implementation of the programs, and monitoring the response to the programs in order to determine if the activities meet the care plan goals for residents.

This course will teach you about professionalism, documentation and ethics, working with residents with special needs, and adapting ideas to certain demographics within a facility. It enables activity directors to excel by emphasizing the diverse nature of long term care residents and by providing a variety of activity ideas: creative, spiritual, physical, social, educational and sensory. It also focuses on developing caring and passionate professionals that are able to create, implement and evaluate resident centered activities that are part of the individualized care plan.

Participants will perform in a small jazz combo, focusing on improvised solos in a variety of styles including bebop, swing, fusion, and rock, with at least one performance at the department jazz concert. These groups meet once a week for 2 hours, scheduled by the members and instructor, and are open to any instrument or voice. Emphasizing a variety of musical styles in jazz tradition and contemporary styles, these ensembles use lead sheets to create arrangements, improvise backgrounds for solos and melodies, and perform solos over chord progressions. Players of varying instrument types and skill levels, including vocalists, are welcome to participate.

Adult Family Home Administrator (AFHA) Training

Cosmetology Instructor Trainee Program

This program provides licensed cosmetologists, manicurists, estheticians, or barbers the 500 hours needed for the cosmetology instructor's examination issued by the Washington State Board of Cosmetology. Under the supervision of a licensed cosmetology instructor, trainee students receive training in instructional methods and clinical practice in assisting students in all phases of cosmetology. Program fee includes textbook, required kit, CIMA access, and testing and licensing fees. This class is 30% online, self-paced and 70% in-person with supervised teaching. Students may submit documented experience in lieu of some of the required 500 hours - for Prior Learning Assessment (PLA).
