  2. Exceptions for Transfers After the Course Begins:
    1. Transfers to the next course after the start date will only be considered under special accommodations for:
      1. Health-related issues or family medical emergencies, supported by official documentation signed by a licensed medical professional.
      2. Requests without proper documentation or unrelated to the specified reasons will be denied.
  3. How to Request Refunds, Drops, or Transfers:
    1. Drop/Refund and/or transfer requests are not to be discussed during class time or with the instructor.
    2. All questions or requests for class drop/refund, or transfers must be directed to:

Classroom Expectations

  1. Environment and Preparedness:
    1. Students must ensure they have:
      1. A quiet, distraction-free environment for learning.
      2. A reliable internet connection to participate in the course.
    2. Students attempting to attend class while multitasking (e.g., working, watching children) and/or continually causing distractions for others will be dropped from the course without a refund.
  2. Punctuality and Attendance:
    1. Students are required to be on time for each class.
    2. Arrivals more than 5 minutes late will be marked as tardy.
    3. Students are allowed a maximum of two tardies; on the third instance, the student will be dropped from the course without a refund.
    4. Students cannot be absent from an entire class period. Missing an entire class period means that you do not meet the DSHS 54 hour training requirement

Classroom Conduct

Please adhere to the following guidelines to ensure a respectful and productive learning environment:

  • Respect the instructor and classmates by:
    • Following the instructor's directions.
    • Waiting until the instructor invites questions before interrupting the lecture.
  • Be considerate of everyone’s time and maintain a collaborative atmosphere.
  • Prohibited behaviors include:
    • Sleeping during class.
    • Driving or attending class from a moving vehicle.
    • Talking on a cell phone during class.
    • Joining class while walking or engaging in conversations with others.
  • Attendance and technology requirements:
    • Attend class using a laptop, desktop computer, or large tablet. Participation via smartphone is not permitted.
    • Smartphones can be used in addition to your laptop or desktop computer but cannot be your main device.
  • Assignment policy:
    • Submit all assignments on time to meet course requirements.

Students observed engaging in any of the above behaviors will receive a single warning during class. If the behavior persists after this warning, staff from Continuing Education will intervene, and the student will be dismissed from the course without a refund.

Dismissed students are welcome to register and pay for a future class when they are ready to fully meet these expectations.
