Cyber Defender Training Program

A New Online Training System

CCS Corporate & Continuing Education and SFCC are partnering to offer you a dual non-credit/credit pathway to build real-world skills for launching your cyber security career. This mentor-led, online program teaches key defensive and offensive cyber skills using its proven-effective, story-centered curriculum approach in which students learn by doing as they complete authentic tasks.

Cyber Defender 0/Cyber Defense Basics for the Non-Expert

In this short "on-ramp" course designed for those potentially interested in career shifts to cyber security or information technology, you will gain experience analyzing and understanding what networking traffic security alerts mean through two realistic hands-on tasks required of entry level interns at Security Operations Centers for security service companies. (Future courses will deal with log analysis, malware analysis, digital forensics, and incident response.) Although entry level, this course requires task completion and research online under the guidance of an online instructional mentor to better teach students about networks and networking threats.

Cyber Defender 1: IS 141

In this course, students will apply their knowledge of networking, Linux and Windows operating systems, the Internet, Web services and log management. This course is a hands-on, mentor led learning course with optimized lecture and instruction. Students in this course should be able to work without precise specific direction, instruction or supervision. Tasks and objectives are provided along with general guidance and tools to accomplish the required outcomes.

IS 141/Cyber Defender 1 Prerequisites

Instructor permission and/or students who have successfully completed Cyber Defense: Immediate Immersion and who aspire to professional careers in defensive cyber security.

Cyber Defender 2: IS 241

In this course, students will expand their applied knowledge of network traffic and packets, malware, memory and drive forensics. This course is a hands-on, mentor led learning course with optimized lecture and instruction. Students in this course should be able to work without precise specific direction, instruction or supervision. Tasks and objectives are provided along with general guidance and tools to accomplish the required outcomes.

IS 241/Cyber Defender 2 Prerequisites

Instructor permission and/or students who have successfully completed Cyber Defender 1 and who aspire to professional careers in defensive cyber security.

Attack – Malware Analysis & Exploitation: IS 243

In this course students will apply their knowledge of malware, vulnerabilities, exploitation, and hacker strategies. This course is a hands-on mentor led learning course with optimized lecture and instruction. Students in this course should be able to work without precise specific direction, instruction or supervision. Tasks and objectives are provided along with general guidance and tools to accomplish the required outcomes.

IS 243 Malware Analysis & Exploitation/Cyber Attack Prerequisites

Instructor permission and/or successful completion of Cyber Defender 1 & 2.
