Admissions, testing, advising and registration steps

New student:
If you have never attended credit classes at SCC:

STEP 1: Submit an application for admission. Apply via the web 
or obtain an application from the Office of Admissions and New Student Entry or a high school counselor. If submitting by mail, send your application and a nonrefundable $25 fee to:

STEP 2: Submit official transcripts from other colleges. SCC may use coursework from other colleges to verify math and English skills, satisfy prerequisite and degree requirements, or for general advising purposes (must be verified on official transcripts). If you previously attended SFCC, SCC will request SFCC transcripts for you. Please have official transcripts from other institutions submitted to the Office of Admissions and New Student Entry at the address in STEP 1.

STEP 3: Register for and complete a placement test and attend new student orientation. New first-time college students must complete assessment testing to register for classes and gain acceptance to most SCC career/technical programs. Contact the Assessment Testing Office, (509) 533-7074, for information about test registration and applicable fees. Information about new student orientation is available following your test. 

If you completed a placement test at another testing site within the last three years, have the testing site send official copies of your scores to the Office of Admissions and New Student Entry at the address in STEP 1.

STEP 4: Register via web or in-person. If you are eligible to register after completing STEPS 1-4, SCC will give you information regarding your registration status and/or registration access time. Registration steps.

STEP 5: Pay tuition and applicable fees. There are four convenient payment methods:

>> Credit card, using our web site at

>> In person at the SCC Cashier’s Office, Max Snyder Building, Bldg. 50.
 
>> By check or money order, using the payment drop box outside the south entrance to Bldg. 50.

>> By check or money order, mailing your payment to the SCC Cashier’s Office at the street address in STEP 1. Use MS 2155.

Former student:
If you previously attended SCC credit classes: 
 
STEP 1: Reactivate your admission file. To reactivate your admission file, you may submit a new admission application (if you attended five or more years ago), or contact the Office of Admissions and New Student Entry, (509) 533-8020. An application fee is not required.
