Positions at Community Colleges of Spokane (CCS) fall into several categories. Depending upon the category, application procedures will vary. Employment categories are as follows:

Administrative/Professional Exempt

Administrative and exempt staff are employed on annual contracts from July 1 (or the initial date of employment) through June 30 of the following year. Typical positions include presidents/vice presidents, deans, associate deans and directors of major areas or major programs. In addition to the CCS Application for Employment, a cover letter, resume and professional references are required. See specific announcement for details.

Note: Unofficial copies of transcripts are acceptable during the application process but official transcripts are required at time of employment.

Full-time and Tenure Track Academic

Normally, recruitment for these positions begins in the spring for positions to be employed for the following academic year. Positions in this category are instructors, counselors, and librarians. A master's degree or vocational equivalent is required. A cover letter, resume, list of professional references and transcripts must be submitted with the CCS Application for Employment.

Note: Unofficial copies of transcripts are acceptable during the application process but official transcripts are required at time of employment.

Individuals selected for tenure-track academic employee positions are required to serve a three-year probationary period before being granted tenure. Contracts are for 175 days, a typical September - June school year.

Adjunct (Part-time) Academic

Adjunct academic employees are given contracts for each class assigned and generally do not instruct more than 66 percent of a full-time load per quarter. A master's degree or vocational equivalent is required. Additional qualifications are listed on the announcement. Payment per contact hour varies depending on the source of class funding and the mode of instruction (lecture, lab, etc.) for the class itself.

Jobs typically found in this category include secretary/clerical, custodian/maintenance, program assistants, library technicians, instructional technicians, computer support, and program coordinator and program manager positions.

The application procedure includes a CCS Application for Employment and required application materials as noted in each job bulletin.
