Paying for Medical Insurance

Premiums for Students

The cost of the Community Colleges of Spokane policy through LewerMark is  $213 per student each quarter, and is charged automatically to international students on F-1 and M-1 visa status at the time of registration for classes.

Premiums for Spouses and Dependents

F-1 students have the option of buying insurance for their spouse and/or other dependents (those on an F-2 or M-2 visa).  The cost of insurance for spouses and dependents is below:

Insurance for student and spouse

$915 per quarter

Insurance for each dependent (e.g., son, daughter)

$213 per quarter

If you want to add a spouse and/or dependent on your policy, please contact Teresa Gay in the Global Education Center for assistance.

Students who do not have to buy insurance from LewerMark include:
  • International students attending CCS on visas other than F-1 or M-1
  • Government-sponsored students who have insurance already provided by their governments or sponsors.  We must have this proof of insurance, however, in the student's file.
  • F-1 students who are taking classes while their I-20 is from another US educational institution.
  • Students who elect to buy their own insurance.  Remember, however, you must prove that you have insurance every quarter and give this proof to either Katherine Thompson (at SFCC) or Trina Allen (at SCC.  This proof must be in English.

When you pay for insurance through LewerMark you will get an insurance card from them.  Your insurance card will have your name in English and your student ID number on it.  Always carry your insurance card with you.  If you need medical assistance, your health care provider will ask for your proof of insurance.

If your insurance card is lost or stolen, you can login with your student ID number to the LewerMark website to print out a new one.

Insurance Plan Enrollment

For those students enrolled in the LewerMark program, the college must provide information about students on a quarterly basis.  This will include:
  • Students Name
  • Address in the United States
  • Student ID Number
  • Date of Birth
  • Visa Status
  • Gender
  • Confirmation of approval for reduced course load (if applicable) and reasons for that approval.
